What a wonderful occasion in the Dáil today as we honoured one of our longest serving senators, David Norris, with a portrait in the main foyer.
Later I had the honour of responding on behalf of Government to his Built Heritage Protection Bill which seeks to strengthen provisions and means to protect and conserve our built architectural heritage.
David is a hero of mine for so many reasons. His vision to save North Great George's Street in the 1970s sparked decades of activism to save Dublin's rich architectural heritage.
