Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) funding for Carlow-Kilkenny


Great to share the news that funding of almost €6 million to develop 200 outdoor adventure projects across rural Ireland has just been announced and #Carlow-#Kilkenny features strongly


Carlow - Bagenalstown Outdoor Hub (PDM) (Bagenalstown Swimming Pool: Prepare plan for development), with lead partner, Carlow County Council. Amount approved: €49,500.


Carlow - John's Hill (John's Hill Drainage upgrades, outdoor furniture & additional infrastructure), with lead partner Carlow County Council. Amount approved: €27,000.


Carlow - Kilbrannish Forest Upgrade (Upgrade of the Kilbrannish North Forest Recreation Area & remedial surfacing works), with lead partner Carlow County Council. Amount approved: €27,000.


Carlow - Kilbrannish South Upgrade (Kilbrannish South Upgrade & re-route through Coillte Forest), with lead partner Carlow County Council. Amount approved: €27,000.


Kilkenny - Castlemorris Woodland Trail (Upgrade woodland trails in Castlemorris wood, part of the old Castlemorris Estate), with lead partner Kilkenny County Council. Amount approved: €25,790.


Kilkenny - Dock Road, Graiguenamanagh (Upgrade Dock Road, between the Barrow Valley Outdoor Activity Hub and the town), with lead partner Kilkenny County Council. Amount approved: €29,700.

Kilkenny - Garyduff Loop Walk, Owning (Garyduff Loop Walk, The development of walk in mixed woodland), with lead partner Kilkenny LEADER. Amount approved: €14,400.

Kilkenny - Glen Combe Wood Loop Walks (Upgrade Glen Combe Wood Loop walks development), with lead partner Kilkenny Leader. Amount approved: €29,700.

Kilkenny - Kells Kings River Trail- Phase 2 (Upgrade walking trail along the King’s River), with lead partner Kilkenny Leader. Amount approved: €29,700.


Kilkenny - Kilkenny to Kilkenny Countryside Park (PDM) (Feasibility Study - Off-road cycling/pedestrian link), with lead partner Kilkenny County Council. Amount approved: €49,500.

Kilkenny - Outdoor Kilkenny Campaign 2023 (Outdoor Kilkenny Digital/Social Media, Marketing), with lead partner Kilkenny County Council. Amount approved: €18,000.


Kilkenny - Pollrone Quay, Mooncoin (Develop 5km Community walk with a connection to Pollrone Quay), with lead partner Kilkenny County Council. Amount approved: €16,182.

Kilkenny - Windgap Village Loop (Upgrade Windgap Village loop - Repair & Enhancement of Walking Trail), with lead partner Kilkenny County Council. Amount approved: €29,700.


Kilkenny - Wood Road, Graiguenamanagh (Upgrade Wood Road, between Graiguenamanagh and River Barrow Amenity Area), with lead partner Kilkenny County Council. Amount approved: €29,700.


Kilkenny - Woodstock Estate (Woodstock Gardens and Arboretum Promotion and marketing campaign), with lead partner Kilkenny County Council. Amount approved: €29,700.


The investment, under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS), will be key to enhancing our outdoor amenities.
