Grey Partridge Project in Boora visited by Minister Noonan

Our NPWS Grey Partridge Project in Boora is one of the most impactful conservation projects in the country. Led by Padraig Ó Donnell and his team, it in involves a captive breeding programme as well as management of a mosaic of habitat types and cover to support not just grey partridge but lapwing, skylark, and other ground nesting birds.

In all, 58 species of bird have been recorded on site and today it was teeming with birdsong and invertebrate activity.

I was privileged to present Padraig with a painting commissioned to mark his many years of dedication to this hugely important programme. Míle buíochas Padraig.
