Kilkenny and Carlow are set to benefit from €380,000 in funding for 14 outdoor recreational projects. This is part of the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme which will invest €4 million in 2024 to develop 150 recreational areas across Ireland ranging from mountain trails, forest walks and cycleways to rivers, lakes and beaches.
This is a welcome investment in outdoor recreation, walking and cycling in Kilkenny and Carlow and underscores the government's dedication to fostering sustainable, healthy communities. This funding will contribute to the development and enhancement of the splendid natural amenities in our rural communities, ensure that these amenities are accessible and enjoyed by more people and will have enduring benefits for people of all ages and abilities.
