Announcing the Historic Towns Initiative funding for 2021!
I'm delighted to confirm that Callan in Co Kilkenny was one of ten successful towns to receive funding under the Historic Towns Initiative - a fantastic collaboration between the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and The Heritage Council.
The award of €57,000 will go towards the completion of the conservation works to the perimeter railings, iron works, and stone masonry around the historic St Mary's Church in the heart of the town.
This work commenced in 2020 on Green St and can now be completed around to Mill St. It will contribute positively towards the ongoing heritage-led regeneration of this really beautiful Irish town.
